Our Story: How Cloud Nine Camping Company Was Born
Every great adventure starts with a moment — a spark that pushes you toward something new.
For me, Cloud Nine Camping Company began long before the first tent prototype, the first cloud logo, or the first rooftop tent shipment heading to the U.S.
It started years ago, helping people discover the freedom, comfort, and simplicity of rooftop tent camping.
From CVT Roots to a New Vision
Before Cloud Nine existed, I spent years at Cascadia Vehicle Tents (CVT) — helping customers choose the right rooftop tent, answering questions late at night, loading tents into truck beds, and meeting families, overlanders, outdoor enthusiasts, road-trippers, and first-time campers.
I watched how rooftop tents changed people’s lives:
-
Families spending more weekends outside
-
Solo travelers finding confidence on the road
-
Couples discovering new places together
-
Adventurers chasing sunsets instead of hotel check-in times
I loved it. I lived it. I believed in it.
But I also saw something happening in the industry: rooftop tents were getting more expensive, and for many people, the dream of owning a high-quality RTT was becoming out of reach.
Building Something Better
I decided to build a company that brought rooftop camping back to the people — where reliable, durable, and comfortable tents didn’t require a $3,000–$4,000 price tag. A brand where beginners wouldn’t feel priced out, and experienced overlanders could upgrade without emptying their wallets.
That’s how Cloud Nine Camping Company was born.
Our mission is simple:
-
Premium rooftop tents — always under $2,000
-
Lightweight and easy to install
-
Durable materials built for real weather and real adventure
-
Features people actually want: LED lighting, crossbars, shoe bags, storage, fast setup
We build gear for real people who want real adventure.
Created With Community in Mind
Cloud Nine isn’t just another rooftop tent brand — it’s a community.
Some of the earliest supporters came from my time at CVT. Former customers, friends, and outdoor enthusiasts are now stepping up as Cloud Nine Camp Counselors, helping spread the word across the U.S.
They serve as local pickup points, help with installs, create content, and guide new campers — making Cloud Nine one of the most grassroots, community-driven rooftop tent brands out there.
We’re building something together: something honest, accessible, and built on real relationships.
The 2025 Rooftop Tent Lineup
What started as an idea grew into a complete line of affordable rooftop tents designed for cars, trucks, and SUVs:
-
Cirrus — lightweight aluminum hardshell rooftop tent, only 4.75" thick
-
Cumulus — aerodynamic side-opening hardshell RTT with a roomy interior
-
Nimbus — durable aluminum clamshell rooftop tent built to handle weather and long trips
Each model is designed with care, built with purpose, and engineered to make getting outside easier — so more people can finally say, “Let’s go this weekend.”
Why Cloud Nine?
Because we believe adventure should feel effortless.
Because sleeping above the ground should feel like floating.
Because your roof top tent should never hold you back from exploring.
And honestly? Because this is what I love — the people, the gear, the stories, the road trips, and the excitement of helping someone discover a better way to camp.
This Is Just the Beginning
Cloud Nine Camping Company isn’t a corporation. It’s a passion project turned into one of the most accessible rooftop tent brands on the market — shaped by real customers, real feedback, and real experience.
Thank you for being part of the first chapter.
Bigger things are coming — new rooftop tents, new videos, new counselors, and new adventures.
I can’t wait to see where this goes.
